Why I accepted 'Odudubariba' role in 'King of Boys' - Charlyboy
Charlyboy in the Netflix-adopted series 'King of Boys' directed by Kemi Adetiba played the role of 'Odudubariba.'
'Odudubariba' is one of the elders on the round table who intends to take over the crown from Sola Sobowale and become 'King of Boys.'
Charlyboy's transition from being a musician to activist and now acting, has received commendation since the movie premiered on Netflix.
When asked why he accepted the role in King of Boys despite turning down other movie roles, Charlyboy said that he accepted the role because he's a fan of Kemi Adetiba and it was an honour to be invited for such a role.
He said: "When Kemi called me to ask me to be on this project, I didn't want to, because I'm not an actor like that. However, I'm a fan of Kemi and have followed her journey. So it was an honour being invited for a role. I promised myself that I was going to not only give my best shot but will also tear my heart out for her, submitting myself as a dutiful student.
"She reminded me that my life was like a movie and I've been acting all my life. I am always saying, Charlyboy 'no dey finish', because there is so much housed in this persona that I'm even beginning to come to terms with.
"I keep shocking myself with all the possibilities that God has endowed me with and I can only say, Thank God for His Grace.
"And here we are; I have always been "The King of Boys" way before the movie first came out."
Charlyboy, however, said he felt intimidated when he heard about the lineup of actors but was encouraged by Kemi Adetiba to carry on with the role which he is now proud of.
"Hearing about the lineup of the cast, I must confess, I was initially intimidated but she said 'just trust me and you will be proud at the end." That's a prediction that has come to pass," Charlyboy said.
Asked what inspired his role as 'Odudubariba' in the movie? Charlyboy said, "Kemi wrote this role with me in mind so what her inspiration is, I don't know, you might need to ask her."
Meanwhile, King of Boys: The Return of The King produced by Kemi Adetiba follows the huge success of the 2018 crime political drama which starred actors like Sola Sobowale, Reminisce, Toni Tones , Adesua Wellington.
Its grilling storyline made it the highest-grossing movie in the cinema in 2018.
The political thriller movie ended with 'King of Boys' Sola Sobowale known as Eniola Salami losing her family, properties in the fight for political ambition.
Eniola Salami in King of Boys is a powerful politician who does anything to her enemies or anyone who dares her.
However, at the end of KOB, her children were killed, she was arrested for fraud and fled the country.
In the return of King of Boys, Eniola Salami (Sola Sobowale) is back to the country with all corruption charges dropped against her as she embarks on a journey to becoming governor of Lagos state.
However, her return rattles her enemies and once-trusted allies desert her at her most vulnerable moment.
Her throne as 'King of Boys' is threatened by Makanaki 'Reminisce' and also 'Odudubariba' - Charlyboy who wants to be crowned 'King of Boy's
The 7-episodes series is trending all over Nigeria and being talked about in every home as it captures the political situation, corruption and the dark side of politics in the country.

"They better not be faking divorce' - Wendy Williams warns Cardi B and Offset
The TV host has been off her hit show for months due to the Coronavirus pandemic but released new episodes today, Monday September 21 and quickly addresses reports that Cardi B filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Offset.
Wendy warned celebrity the couple to be sincere in their divorce saying she went through a public and messy divorce from ex-husband Kevin Hunter in April of 2019 and that once legal documents are filed, it “complicates everything.”
She also added that Cardi “deserves better” than Offset .
Cardi and Offset secretly tied the knot at home in Georgia on September 20, 2017.
Cardi filed divorce documents on September 15 in Georgia, and in her initial documents, Cardi stated “there are no prospects for a reconciliation.”
She also stated that she was seeking primary physical and legal custody of Kulture.
But days later she filed an amended divorce petition to retract her request for primary physical and legal custody of their daughter. In the amended documents, she “requests that this Court honor and enforce any custodial arrangement agreed to by the parties and that such arrangement should be whatever is in the child’s best interests.”
The amended legal documents also state that Cardi “reiterates her desire for an amicable resolution of this case.”
Although Offset hasn't filed counter documents Wendy says its in their best interest not to be talking about divorce if it isn't real..
“I hope this is not a fake divorce, because those papers, take it from someone who knows, those papers complicate everything,” Wendy, 56, said
“Now they want to coparent,” “Hopefully they will have something legally instated where he gives to the baby. I don’t know if she’ll get spousal support. I mean, certainly she’s more famous and wealthier than him. I wouldn’t recognize Offset walking down the street, but I’d recognize Cardi even with no makeup,” Wendy continued, before she concluded with, “Cardi, I’m sorry to hear what happened.”
Following the divorce news, Cardi took to Instagram to reveal the real reason why she decided to end her marriage. In a live video on September 18, she said nothing “out of this world happened” to cause the breakup. She also dispelled speculation that the split was for publicity reasons.
“I don’t need any stunts to sell anything,”
“It’s not because of cheating. I’m seeing people say it’s because he’s got a baby on the way — that’s a whole f—king complete lie,” she said about rumors that Offset is expecting his fifth child with another woman.
“This is the like second time people try to pin babies over here,” she said, adding, “No, that’s bulls–t.”
“I got tired of f—king arguing” and “got tired of not seeing things eye-to-eye.”
“When you feel like it’s just not the same anymore and before you get cheated on, I’d rather just leave,” she explained.
“Sometimes people really do f–king grow apart.”
“I’ve been with this man for 4 years. I have kid with this man. I have a household with this man. Sometimes you just want — you’re just tired of the arguments, of the buildups.”

R. Kelly allegedly attacked by inmate inside Chicago prison
TMZ reports that the incident recently took place inside the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, Illinois where he is being detained after pleading not guilty to dozens of state and federal sex crime charges in Illinois, Minnesota, and New York.
The 53-year-old was said to have been sitting on his bed when another inmate walked into his cell and started punching him.
Federal law enforcement sources told TMZ that the yet-to-be identified inmate attacked Kelly because of built up anger over the detention facility being placed on lockdown on different occasions due to protests by the singer’s supporters outside the correctional center.
After the alleged attack, the ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ singer was examined by a doctor, who determined that he was okay as he didn’t suffer any broken bones or serious injuries.

I switched off my phone after Naira Marley promised me N1m –Jude Chukwuka
However, many were surprised when a 56-year-old actor, Jude Chukwuka, became an Internet sensation after posting video clips of himself singing along to one of Marley’s songs titled, Mafo.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Chukwuka, who speaks Yoruba fluently, said, “I enjoy singing and in recent times, Naira Marley has become my favourite artiste. It’s like I help my contemporaries to hear and understand what these young boys are doing. I don’t know why the video of Mafo that I posted went viral. I had actually wanted to do another song but I changed my mind and that one went viral. I didn’t know it was going to spark such an interest globally and I’m glad it did. I cannot say how long it took me to learn the lines because I must have heard the song over a hundred times. Every time I heard it, I picked one or two lines and in a short while, I started to sing along.”
Recalling how he felt when he was informed that Naira Marley was ‘looking’ for him. He said, “I really cannot explain how I felt when I was told that Naira Marley was looking for me online. I got over 500 calls. When I eventually answered a colleague’s call, he told me to go on Instagram that Naira Marley was looking for me. I then went online and saw so many messages. I didn’t even know how to feel at first. But to keep my sanity, I switched off my phone, so no one could reach me till I got home.’’
Chukwuka also disagreed with people who believed that Marley’s lyrics encouraged wayward lifestyles. He said, “Naira Marley’s songs glorify the rot that our leaders allowed to fester. If as a result of ineptitude and nepotism, our leaders have turned society upside-down and somebody earns a living from glorifying the rot that their stupidity caused; of course, they would fight that individual because that person shows their incompetence and inefficiencies. Some people think that ‘Marlians’ are irresponsible but that is what the press has made people believe. If you connect the Marlian slogan with irresponsibility, what about our political parties? Are we saying that everybody in suits and ties are saint. All political parties have irresponsible followers too. It all depends on where one stands. Not all Malians are irresponsible. It is only those who are in government and those who do not want to accept the realities of society that consider Malians to represent irresponsibility.”
Chukwuka also insisted that the lyrics of Naira Marley’s songs were not too vulgar for an elderly actor like him to promote. He added, “It depends on where one is standing. If you have your head in the clouds, you would say the lyrics are vulgar. But if you have your feet on the ground, you would realise that he sings about the realities of our society. I chose to disregard the messenger and listen to the message. In the process, I found that his lyrics are not vulgar. They are the realities we are struggling with in society. I believe those running the affairs of this nation should listen to what he (Marley) is saying.
“The president of the country does not command as much following as Naira Marley does. As far as I’m concerned, Marley has become a mouthpiece for pointing out the realities of society. But those in leadership don’t want to hear those truths, so they would rather give the young man a bad name so his ‘products’ wouldn’t sell.’’
